Business Development Manager – Façades, Roofing & Construction

£60,000–£65,000 basic salary
Flexible location | Milton Keynes head office | Nationwide remit
Hybrid working | Permanent, full-time
Attractive profit-linked commission with substantial per-project earning potential, plus company car or car allowance

A.D.S Construction Personnel Ltd are recruiting a Business Development Manager to work across a group of specialist roofing, façades and construction businesses, with the main focus on driving growth in the fast-growing façades division.

This is an opportunity to make a real commercial impact: open doors, build lasting client relationships and turn well-qualified opportunities into profitable projects. Alongside a £60,000–£65,000 basic salary, an attractive profit-linked commission structure offers substantial financial rewards on a per-project basis.

Launched 18 months ago, the façades division delivers cladding, metal roofing and fire remediation projects and has ambitious plans to reach £30–£40 million turnover. The wider group includes an £18 million roofing contractor with more than 70 years’ combined industry experience and a construction division turning over approximately £9–£10 million.

The Role

You will develop new business across the group’s roofing, façades and construction divisions, with façades as your main priority. You will identify projects early, build relationships with the people influencing specifications and procurement, and develop opportunities from first conversation through to contract award, matching each project to the right business.

Working directly with senior leadership and alongside estimating, commercial, design and operations teams, you will shape the pipeline, prioritise the right enquiries and ensure each opportunity is a strong technical and commercial fit.

The head office is in Milton Keynes, but this is a hybrid role with flexibility on location. Applications are invited from experienced candidates throughout the UK. With a nationwide remit, the role suits someone who enjoys meeting clients, managing their own diary and maintaining momentum through longer construction sales cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Build a strong nationwide pipeline, with façades, cladding, metal roofing and fire remediation as your primary focus

Build relationships with main contractors, developers, architects, consultants and specifiers, opening new accounts and developing existing clients

Identify projects at design, pre-construction and procurement stages, positioning the business early

Spot opportunities for the wider group and direct enquiries to the appropriate roofing or construction team

Qualify opportunities by project value, programme, scope, risk, procurement route and likelihood of success

Work with estimating and commercial teams to develop competitive, commercially sound tender submissions

Maintain momentum through tender, negotiation and contract award

Represent the group at client meetings, networking events and relevant industry exhibitions

Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline reports and forecasts

Keep senior leadership informed on activity, secured work and progress against agreed sales targets

What We’re Looking For

Proven business development or project sales experience within façades, cladding or the building envelope market is essential

An established network of relevant contacts across main contractors, developers, architects, consultants, specifiers or specialist subcontractors

A sound understanding of construction tendering, procurement and longer project sales cycles

Evidence of turning new opportunities into profitable secured work

Commercial judgement to prioritise the right projects and walk away from unsuitable enquiries

Confident communication, negotiation and presentation skills

A proactive, organised approach to opening doors and following opportunities through

The ability to prioritise façades growth while recognising opportunities across the wider group

Confidence managing your own diary, travelling to clients nationwide and working effectively on a hybrid basis

Full UK driving licence

Relevant Sector Experience

Applicants must have relevant façades or building envelope experience, which may include one or more of the following:

Main contracting, refurbishment or general construction

Flat, pitched or specialist roofing

Rainscreen, architectural cladding or curtain walling

Metal roofing and wider external-envelope systems

Façade remediation, recladding or fire remediation

Façade design, manufacture or installation

You do not need to be a technical specialist in every discipline. What matters is your ability to understand project requirements, build credibility with clients and work with internal specialists to develop the right opportunities.

Salary, Benefits and Why Join?

£60,000–£65,000 basic salary

Attractive profit-linked commission, rewarding profitable projects with substantial per-project earning potential

Company car or car allowance, depending on personal circumstances

21 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays

One additional day of holiday per year after three years’ service, up to a maximum of five extra days

Pension scheme

Hybrid working and flexibility on location, with a Milton Keynes head office and nationwide remit

Flexibility around commitments outside work

A sociable team, with company days out, Friday pub visits and company trips

Direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape business development across the group

A varied project portfolio spanning façades, cladding, fire remediation, roofing and construction

A prominent role in a fast-growing façades division with ambitious plans to reach £30–£40 million turnover

Ready to make your next move? If you have façades experience and can build strong relationships and turn opportunities into profitable projects, we would like to hear from you. Applications are invited from candidates throughout the UK. Send your up-to-date CV outlining your relevant sectors, client relationships and project successes.
