Business Development Manager
Location: Berkshire (Hybrid)
Salary: £40-50,000 (doe) + car allowance + commission

The Opportunity
New Business Development
* Build, qualify, and manage a rolling pipeline of new business opportunities in line with commercial strategy.
* Identify, research, and prioritise target customers and segments using market insights and competitive analysis.
* Develop commercial proposals and strategic pitches that reflect customer needs and business value.
* To take the lead on tenders, bids, and proposals, from initial enquiry through to final negotiation.
* To secure profitable contracts that meet agreed commercial objectives.
* To achieve new business revenue, volume, and margin targets.
* To maintain accurate forecasting of new business revenue.
Customer Engagement and Onboarding
* To establish strong early relationships with prospective customers to understand needs, challenges, and strategic drivers.
* To act as the commercial lead during onboarding, ensuring smooth handover to account management teams once contracts are implemented.
* To ensure that internal teams have the information and support needed to deliver an excellent customer launch experience.
Cross Functional Leadership
* To work with Planning, Technical, Finance, Purchasing, NPD, and Operations to validate feasibility, costing, and value chain opportunities.
* To collaborate with Finance Business Partners to model pricing scenarios and ensure new contracts meet profitability thresholds.
* To be the internal voice of the prospective customer to ensure proposals and onboarding processes meet expectations.

* Proven experience of successfully selling & developing relationships within the food & beverages/FMCG industry
* High commercial acumen & numeracy
* Strong collaboration & people skills
* Excellent negotiation skills
* Results & target orientated
* Ability to navigate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
* Proven ability to develop long-term planning & account plans
* Strategy development – concept to execution
* Excellent IT & presentational skills
