We are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers to join one of the largest supermarket contracts in the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional Class 1 Driver looking for regular work, competitive pay rates, and the opportunity to work with a leading distribution operation.
The Class 1 Driver role involves driving articulated vehicles (HGV Class 1 / C+E), completing a variety of supermarket deliveries including store deliveries, and carrying out manual handling of cages to the store floor. Shifts are typically 10–12 hours, with no nights out required.
As a HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver, you will be based from our Goole site (DN14 8GA). Please ensure you are able to commute to this location and have access to your own vehicle before applying.
The Role
As a Class 1 Driver, you will complete a mixture of single-drop and multi-drop deliveries using a variety of vehicles and trailers, including:

8, 10, and 13 metre curtainside trailers
*
Box trailers
*
Double Deckers (moving floor training will be provided before operating these vehicles)
The successful HGV Class 1 Driver will be responsible for completing deliveries safely, following all transport regulations, and maintaining excellent standards of professionalism throughout each shift.
Onboarding Process
Our onboarding process includes an initial assessment with one of our Driver Representatives. The assessment lasts approximately 3–4 hours and is paid if the applicant successfully passes.
Shift Times
We have a range of start times available, from 12:00pm through to midnight.
Please carefully review the pay rates below, as these vary depending on shift patterns.
Pay Rates
*
Monday to Friday (Weeknight PM/Night shifts): £19 per hour (including holiday pay)
*
Saturday: £22 per hour (including holiday pay)
*
Sunday: £24 per hour (including holiday pay)
*
Bank Holiday: £24 per hour (including holiday pay)
These rates apply to any shift that starts after 12:00pm.
Duties Include
As a Class 1 Driver, your responsibilities will include:
*
Completing supermarket store deliveries safely and efficiently
*
Driving articulated HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles
*
Carrying out full vehicle safety checks before and after shifts
*
Reporting any vehicle defects correctly
*
Following strict Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations
*
Complying with all on-site health and safety procedures
*
Providing excellent communication and customer service
Class 1 Driver Requirements
To be successful as a HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver, you will need:
*
A valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
*
DCPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card
*
A good understanding of Drivers’ Hours and WTD legislation
*
The ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctly
*
Strong communication skills
*
The ability to follow company procedures and safety standards
You must have a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points. No DD, DR, or NI convictions will be accepted.
