Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay Rate: £17.92 per hour + £50 per night shift allowance
Shift Pattern
Training (Days): Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm (40 hours)
After Training (~6 months): Monday to Thursday, 8:30pm – 7:00am (40 hours)
Night Shift Allowance: £50 per night (paid when worked or on holiday)
About the Role
Our client, a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Kirkbymoorside, is seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join their machine shop team. This is an excellent opportunity offering structured progression onto permanent night shifts, strong earning potential, and long-term stability.
Key Responsibilities
* Set and operate high-speed CNC machines (milling, drilling, tapping, grinding)
* Support the general operation of machine shop equipment
* Ensure tooling, fixtures, and CNC programs are prepared ahead of production
* Maintain accurate production records, including output and scrap
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Carry out basic edits to CNC programs and tool tables
* Take ownership of component quality and documentation
* Monitor and replace tooling and cutters as required
* Load raw materials and components onto machines
* Check and maintain coolant and lubricant levels
* Operate 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machinery, including Renishaw probing
* Follow all health & safety procedures
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience operating CNC machinery
* Strong mechanical and technical understanding
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Organised, reliable, and self-motivated
