Role: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Services

📍 Location: Slough, Berkshire
💰 Salary: £45,000 basic

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Deputy Manager to join a high-quality Ofsted-regulated children’s residential service based in Slough.

This is a pivotal leadership role, supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF).

You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for young people, while leading and developing a dedicated staff team to deliver outstanding care and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the home operates in line with Ofsted standards and regulatory requirements

* Promote and embed a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring the welfare and protection of young people is always prioritised

* Assist in preparing for and participating in Ofsted inspections, working towards achieving Good or Outstanding outcomes

* Lead, supervise, and develop staff through regular supervisions, appraisals, and training

* Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies in line with individual needs

* Monitor and improve service quality through internal audits and quality assurance processes

* Ensure accurate and compliant record-keeping and reporting systems are maintained

* Build effective partnerships with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals

* Support rota management, staffing levels, and overall operational efficiency

Requirements

* Previous experience within a children’s residential setting, ideally in a senior or supervisory role

* Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding practices, and children’s legislation

* Working towards or holding a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Children’s Residential)

* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
