Die Cast Machine Setter/Operator
Location: Wednesbury Site
Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Reports To: Die Cast Manufacturing Supervisor
Job Purpose
To set, operate, and monitor 20 to 120 tonne FRECH pressure die cast machines to produce high-quality cast components in line with production schedules, quality standards, and health & safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
* Operate 20 to 120 tonne FRECH pressure die casting machines safely and efficiently.
* Start up and shut down machines in accordance with standard operating procedures.
* Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required.
* Load raw materials and remove finished castings.
* Ensure correct tooling is fitted and functioning properly.
Quality Control:
* Inspect components to ensure they meet specification and quality standards.
* Identify and report defects, non-conformances, or machine issues immediately.
* Complete quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Production & Efficiency:
* Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
* Minimise scrap and downtime.
* Maintain good housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles.
Health & Safety:
* Follow all site health and safety procedures at all times.
* Wear required PPE.
* Report hazards, near misses, or incidents promptly.
* Ensure safe handling of molten metal and hot components.
Maintenance & Housekeeping:
* Perform routine daily maintenance checks.
* Keep machines and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
* Assist maintenance personnel when required.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
* Previous experience operating FRECH pressure die casting machines preferred.
* Understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
* Ability to read and follow work instructions.
* Basic quality inspection skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good timekeeping and reliability.
Desirable:
* Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of zinc die casting processes.
* Basic mechanical aptitude.
