Electrical Supervisor
Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Secondary Supervisor to support GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) installation works on a project in the Orkney Islands. This role will involve assisting the Site Manager in coordinating site activities, ensuring safe execution of works, and maintaining high-quality delivery standards within a live or controlled substation environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Site Manager in the day-to-day running of substation installation works
* Supervise and coordinate GIS installation activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications
* Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with industry regulations, site procedures, and health & safety standards
* Oversee operatives and subcontractors, ensuring productivity, quality, and compliance
* Assist with method statements, risk assessments (RAMS), and permit-to-work systems
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks
* Monitor progress and provide updates to the Site Manager
* Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in a high-risk environment
Essential Requirements
* Valid CSCS Card
* SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
* Proven experience with GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) installation within the power/substation sector
* Strong understanding of substation safety protocols and procedures
* Experience working in live or high-voltage environments
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
Desirable Requirements
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – preferred but not essential
* Previous experience in a supervisory role on substation or transmission projects
* Knowledge of UK power industry standards and regulations
