A well-established plant and equipment service provider is seeking a Mobile Service Engineer to join its field operations team. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role focused on servicing plant machinery, primarily telehandlers, at customer sites. The position is ideal for a practical and motivated individual with transferable mechanical skills who enjoys working independently in the field.

You will be based in the Market Harborough area and will cover customer sites across the Midlands while reporting into the Bedford depot. The role involves regular travel, planned service visits, and occasional depot support when required. Strong organisation, reliability, and a customer-focused attitude are essential for success in this role.

Role Overview

Carry out servicing of plant equipment, primarily telehandlers, at customer sites
Complete approximately 10 customer visits per week
Accurately record all service and repair information (parts used, time, mileage, and photos via iPad/device)
Maintain stock levels of essential spare parts and request replacements when required
Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding job progress or delays
Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
Support depot operations when required
Maintain a clean, organised van, tools, and working environmentKey Requirements

Qualified Diesel Mechanic (or strong equivalent transferable experience)
Proven experience maintaining and repairing plant machinery
Full UK driving licence (maximum 3 penalty points)
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Good communication skills (written and verbal English)
Professional, reliable, and customer-focused approach
Ability to remain resilient and perform under pressureDesirable:

NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent)
CSCS card
Experience using iPad/mobile reporting systems
Broad knowledge of plant equipment
JCB servicing experience or qualificationSalary & Benefits

Salary: £36,900 per annum
Working hours: 06:00 - 17:00
Overtime paid at time and a quarter
