We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join a well-established legal firm. This is a varied role supporting the Finance Manager and wider business with day-to-day financial operations and would suit someone early in their finance career who is looking to build on existing experience within a supportive and professional environment. It’s an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain exposure to a broad range of accounting duties, develop their skillset, and progress within a well-established organisation.

Finance Assistant - About the role

This is a varied role supporting the Finance Manager and wider business with day-to-day financial operations. Key responsibilities include:

Daily bank reconciliations and banking

Managing weekly cashflow and income reporting

Assisting with month-end and year-end processes

Processing invoices, payments, and receipts (CHAPS/BACS)

Supporting credit control activities when required

Handling client payments and finance queries

Assisting with file opening and closure processes, including compliance checks

Preparing financial reports for senior management

General accounts administration, including scanning and query resolution

The successful Finance Assistant will have:

Previous experience in a finance or accounts support role

Strong organisational and time management skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent communication skills

Proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience within a legal accounts environment or knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (desirable, not essential)
