Finance Officer

Finance Officer – Primary School
Location: Hounslow, London
Hours: 20 hours per week | 39 weeks per year (Term Time)
Salary: £20 per hour
Start Date: ASAP – Long term placement which could be permanent

anzuk is working in partnership with a primary school in Hounslow to recruit an experienced Finance Officer to join their administration team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong organisational skills who is looking to work in a school environment and contribute to the effective management of school finances.

The Role

The Finance Officer will play a key role in the day-to-day financial management of the school, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and supporting the Headteacher and leadership team with financial planning, reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage day-to-day school financial transactions including orders, invoices, payments, income, and banking

* Monitor and maintain the school budget, identifying trends, variances, and reporting to the Headteacher

* Prepare financial reports for senior leaders, governors, and finance committees

* Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments while ensuring compliance with financial procedures

* Reconcile income, bank accounts, VAT claims, and financial systems

* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements

* Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial decision-making

* Liaise with suppliers, contractors, the local authority, and service providers

* Maintain the school’s fixed assets register and monitor value for money across purchases

The Ideal Candidate

* Previous experience in a finance or accounts role managing end-to-end financial processes

* Experience preparing financial reports for senior leaders or management teams

* Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit requirements

* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills

* Confident user of financial systems and spreadsheets

Desirable

* Experience working within a school, education, or local authority setting

* Knowledge of school funding or education finance regulations

* Experience supporting facilities or service-level agreement financial management
