Fire Door Technician / Fabric Engineer
Location: City of London (Commercial Building)
Contract Type: Rolling Freelance Contract
Day Rate: £250–£260 per day (DOE)
Start: Immediate / Within 1–2 weeks
Overview
A leading FM provider is seeking an experienced Fire Door Installer with strong fabric maintenance skills to support ongoing works within a high‑profile commercial building in the City. This is a rolling freelance opportunity offering long‑term continuity for the right engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Fire Door Installation & Compliance
Installation, repair, and replacement of timber fire doors and fire door sets
FD30 / FD60 Fire doors
Conducting fire door inspections in line with regulatory standards
Identifying defects and recommending remedial actions
Ensuring all works meet current fire safety legislation and building regulations
Fabric Maintenance Duties
Minor carpentry repairs (hinges, frames, architraves, skirting, ironmongery)
Basic plumbing tasks (tap changes, trap repairs, leaks)
Patch plastering, painting, and general fabric upkeep
Ceiling tile replacements, lock changes, door adjustments and general handyman tasks
Supporting reactive and PPM tasks across the building
Requirements
Proven experience as a Fire Door Installer (FIRAS / BM Trada / IFC accreditation desirable but not essential)
Strong background in commercial fabric maintenance
Ability to work independently and manage daily workload
Excellent understanding of H&S compliance and site safety procedures
Own tools and PPE
Right to work in the UK
