Our client based in Newbury is looking for a HGV Class 1 Driver with a preference for or willing to train for Wag and Drag / Ro-Ro. This is a temp-to-perm contract with the opportunity to start immediately following a successful driving assessment.

As a key member of the logistics team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of goods across various sites.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of road transport legislation, including EU drivers’ hours regulations and will be capable of operating Wag and Drag or Ro-Ro vehicles where applicable.

Pay & Schedule:

* £18.22 per hour (£842.67 per week)

* Monday to Friday (46.25 hours per week)

* 06:00am - 16:00pm

Key Responsibilities:

* Carry out scheduled deliveries and collections safely, ensuring all goods are delivered on time and securely.

* Operate Wag and Drag or Ro-Ro vehicles (where applicable) according to company guidelines and safety standards.

* Conduct thorough daily vehicle checks to ensure the truck is roadworthy and report any issues or defects immediately.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including delivery paperwork, tachograph data, and vehicle maintenance logs.

* Ensure compliance with road transport legislation, including EU drivers' hours regulations, ensuring no breaches during working hours.

* Communicate effectively with the transport team and clients, ensuring all necessary information is exchanged regarding deliveries and any potential issues.

* Load and unload goods safely, ensuring that all items are securely transported.

Requirements:

* Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.

* Maximum of 6 penalty points on your licence (minor offences only).

* Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card.

* Solid understanding of EU driving laws and regulations.

* A good level of spoken and written English.

* Previous experience operating Wag and Drag or Ro-Ro vehicles preferred, though training can be provided.
