Learner Engagement Officer

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
Location: West Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Hereford, Lichfield, and Worcester)

Are you passionate about helping unemployed individuals move into education, training, and sustainable employment? This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive Learner Engagement Officer to play a key role in recruiting learners and engaging learners onto programmes that support employability and adult education. You will work directly within local communities, helping individuals access funded training through the Adult Education Budget (AEB) and other employability initiatives designed to help people progress into meaningful careers.

About the Job

As a Learner Engagement Officer, your main responsibility will be recruiting learners and engaging individuals onto adult education and employability programmes across the West Midlands. You will play a key role in identifying potential learners, building community relationships, and supporting individuals from unemployment into training and ultimately employment.

Key responsibilities include:

Recruiting learners onto adult education and employability programmes

*

Promoting training opportunities funded through the Adult Education Budget (AEB)

*

Engaging with unemployed individuals and supporting them into training pathways

*

Conducting initial conversations and suitability assessments with potential learners

*

Supporting learners through the enrolment and onboarding process

*

Building strong relationships with community organisations, job centres, and referral partners

*

Attending community events and outreach activities to engage learners

*

Maintaining accurate records of learner engagement and recruitment activity

*

Supporting learners at the early stage of their journey to ensure a positive start to their programme

This is a community-focused role where you will actively engage with individuals and partners to create pathways from adult education into employment opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping individuals access training and employment opportunities and confident working in a learner recruitment or employability-focused role.

You will ideally have:

Experience recruiting learners or engaging learners within a training provider or education environment

*

Experience working within employability programmes, adult education, or AEB-funded provision

*

Understanding of how training can support unemployed individuals into work

*

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

*

Confidence working with people from diverse backgrounds and communities

*

The ability to manage outreach activity and work independently

*

A proactive approach to identifying and attracting new learners

Experience working with job centres, community groups, employability networks, or adult education programmes would be highly beneficial.
