5S Recruitment is working with an established precision plastics manufacturer seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer for its South London facility.

The business manufactures technically demanding injection-moulded components and assembled products for highly regulated industries, including medical, pharmaceutical and diagnostics. The site operates approximately 60 injection moulding machines across white-room and classified cleanroom environments, supported by robotics, automated assembly and inspection equipment.

The role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will help maintain production equipment, respond to breakdowns and improve machinery reliability across a busy manufacturing operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

*

Completing planned and reactive maintenance.

*

Diagnosing electrical and mechanical breakdowns.

*

Maintaining injection moulding machines and automated production cells.

*

Working with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.

*

Supporting linear robots, conveyors and product-handling equipment.

*

Maintaining ultrasonic welding, laser-marking, camera-inspection, assembly and packing systems.

*

Fault-finding on motors, sensors, contactors, relays, inverters and temperature-control systems.

*

Supporting auxiliary equipment such as dryers, chillers, compressors, vacuum systems and material-handling equipment.

*

Investigating recurring faults and identifying root causes.

*

Supporting machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects.

*

Working closely with production, process and tooling teams to minimise downtime.

*

Completing maintenance records within a regulated manufacturing environment.

The equipment

The facility includes precision injection moulding machinery, KraussMaffei equipment, Wittmann robotic systems and bespoke automated assembly and inspection cells.

What we are looking for

*

Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Maintenance Technician.

*

A recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.

*

Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.

*

Experience maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.

*

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, drives, sensors and control systems.

*

The ability to diagnose faults on PLC-controlled machinery.

*

A practical and methodical approach to breakdowns.

*

Injection moulding, plastics, medical device, pharmaceutical or packaging experience would be advantageous.

This position would suit a hands-on engineer who enjoys proper fault-finding and wants to work within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.

The package

*

£46,500 per annum.

*

Permanent position.

*

4 on, 4 off shift pattern.

*
