Marine Operations Manager
THE SUCCESFUL APPLICANT
Essential:
* Significant shore-based experience in a marine operations, vessel operations, fleet management, or similar senior maritime role.
* A relevant maritime qualification or professional certification.
* Strong knowledge of marine safety, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Experience working with vessel crews, ports, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
* Demonstrable leadership and people-management experience.
* Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills.
* The ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
* A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant marine/operations management systems.
* Ability to travel internationally for vessel visits.
* Full and unrestricted right to live and work in Republic of Ireland.
* Full drivers licence.
Desirable:
* Previous sea going experience as Master/Captain.
* ISM / ISPS / MLC compliance with DPA / CSO qualifications.
* ISO 9001 / 14001 experience.
* ISM / ISO auditor experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Lead and manage day-to-day marine operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.
* Oversee vessel operations, crew coordination, port activities, logistics, and associated marine services.
* Ensure all operations comply with applicable Irish, UK, EU, and international maritime legislation, industry standards and specific client requirements.
* Develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and performance standards.
* Manage and coordinate crew requirements, maintenance activities, and operational resources.
* Advise / assist vessels with operational, crew and cargo queries.
* Work closely with vessel crews, port authorities, contractors, customers, and other key stakeholders.
* Monitor operational performance, costs, productivity, and service levels, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Ensure robust health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are maintained across all marine activities.
* Lead incident, near-miss, and operational investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
* Support / assist with vessel inspections, audits, surveys, and regulatory inspections.
* Manage and develop operational personnel, promoting a strong safety culture and professional working environment.
* Partner closely with the Technical Manager to ensure vessels remain operationally ready.
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and cost control relating to marine operations.
