M&E Quantity Surveyor
The contractor delivers projects primarily across central London, operating in a range of sectors including CAT A & B office fit-outs, high-end residential schemes, education, hotels and leisure, largely for private clients. Projects are typically procured via negotiated or two-stage routes, enabling early and effective procurement of M&E services to ensure a fully coordinated, high-quality end product. Combined MEPH package values generally range from £3m to £15m.
Operating as a principal contractor, the business undertakes new builds, refurbishments, remodelling works and complex interior fit-outs. It has built a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging schemes through close collaboration with leading consultants and clients. This is underpinned by long-term relationships, a hands-on approach to project ownership, and an uncompromising focus on quality and delivery.
Interviews are taking place immediately for a permanent position, with the successful candidate either joining newly secured projects or becoming part of an existing project team to manage live variation accounts.
Key Experience Required
Involvement in two-stage procurement of MEPH packages, including:
Mechanical services
Electrical services
BMS
Sprinklers
IT / data (converged networks)
Security systems
Audio visual systems
Passenger and goods lifts
Smoke extract systems
Fire curtains
Lightning protection
Understanding how MEPH scopes are broken down into discrete packages and procured through an approved specialist supply chain
Knowledge of preparing and issuing robust tender information to achieve compliant and competitive returns
Ability to work to procurement programmes and key milestone dates
Producing detailed, project-specific pricing schedules aligned with design, programme and logistics
Awareness of key project risks including design responsibility, CDP, coordination, acoustics and fire strategy
Familiarity with compliance requirements such as BREEAM, WELL, WiredScore and security standards
Identifying gaps or inconsistencies in consultant design information and managing clarification processes
Understanding package interfaces and the commercial impact of design or scope changes
Experience analysing tender returns, chairing tender meetings, and issuing detailed minutes
Exposure to value engineering exercises and alternative design solutions
Preparing detailed tender recommendation and appointment reports
Understanding programme, sequencing and their impact on subcontractor pricing and variations
Managing subcontractor variation accounts, valuations and cost reporting
Supporting upstream change control and accurate cost/value reporting
Skills & Attributes
Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
Clear and confident communication skills with both subcontractors and client teams
Ability to work independently and produce high-quality reports and commercial documents
High attention to detail, particularly with document presentation and consistency
Strong organisational skills, including structured electronic and hard-copy filing systems
Able to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads in line with procurement and construction programmes
Team-focused mindset with the confidence to support wider project delivery on MEPH-related matters
Working alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Building Services Engineer, the successful candidate will support the full MEPH tender process across both traditional and design & build projects. The role includes contributing to design risk reviews, identifying missing information, highlighting tender gaps, proposing value engineering options, and incorporating these into fully reconciled tender submissions
