Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to cover electrical and mechanical maintenance across production, plant and building equipment in a high-speed, high-volume food manufacturing environment.
The role of Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Ensure all work practices adhere to company health and safety policies and to BRCGS food safety and hygiene standards.
Work both independently and as part of a team, carrying out routine and reactive repair across filling and can-seaming lines, ensuring deliverable targets are met or exceeded.
Responsible for day-to-day electrical and mechanical maintenance of production plant - including filling machines, can seamers, blow moulders, and building services.
Complete electrical installations to the latest regulations (18th Edition) within a fast-moving factory environment.
Carry out electrical maintenance across both fixed production plant and mobile/ancillary equipment.
Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of key automated manufacturing plant equipment, including bottle filling lines, can seamers (tops and bottoms), and PET blow moulding machines.
Maintain and fault-find on in-line metal detection and other Critical Control Point (CCP) equipment, escalating any downtime promptly per BRC requirements.
Implement, document, and report routine maintenance schedules for plant and machinery using the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Assist other trades within the facility and complete mechanical repairs as required.
Complete reactive work orders within agreed time parameters, minimising line downtime on high-volume filling operations.
Demonstrate proactive problem-solving ability, thinking objectively through various options and scenarios when diagnosing plant faults.

£45k
45 hour week
Rotational shift patterns, am and pm shifts
7am-4pm and 1pm - 10pm.
1 hour unpaid lunch break
Saturday rota cover 7am-12pm - Fridays off when covered.

The person:
Knowledge of AC/DC drives and their associated motors or pumps.
PLC fault-finding ability - acting as the site go-to for electrical controls matters on automated filling and seaming equipment.
In-depth knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, particularly as applied to filling heads and can-handling equipment.
Plenty of initiative, meticulous attention to detail, and pride in your work.
Good working knowledge of health & safety procedures and food safety/hygiene requirements (desirable).
18th Edition qualification.
Qualified to City & Guilds Level 3 in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline.
Ideally apprentice-trained, with experience in an automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of bottle filling, can seaming and blow moulding equipment, within edible oils, dairy, or wider food manufacturing.
Strong practical maintenance background, gained within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
