We are currently seeking an experienced, compassionate 1:1 mentor to support a Year 13 young person based in the DT2 area. This is a highly rewarding role focused on emotional support, relationship‑building, and re‑engagement, rather than academic pressure.

Role Overview

Year Group: Year 13 (Post‑16)
Hours: 10 hours per week
Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Location: DT2
Focus: SEMH support, confidence‑building, emotional regulationThe young person is experiencing:

Moderate depression
Anxiety
Autistic burnout
Significant emotional dysregulationThese challenges have led to:

Social withdrawal
Low self‑esteem
Difficulties attending consistentlyTheir mental health has deteriorated since late 2024, and they require a calm, consistent, and emotionally attuned mentor to help stabilise wellbeing and rebuild confidence.

Approach Required

Strong relationship‑first, trauma‑informed mentoring
Sessions led at the young person's pace
Support with emotional regulation and confidence
Encouragement to re‑engage with daily routines and activities
Use of interests such as art and coding to support connection, motivation, and self‑expression
A non‑judgemental, low‑pressure approachEssential Requirements

Minimum 6 months' experience working in education or children's care
SEMH experience is essential
Experience supporting young people with anxiety, depression, or autism
Calm, patient, and emotionally responsive
Comfortable delivering consistent 1:1 supportThis is a meaningful opportunity for a mentor who understands that progress starts with safety, trust, and emotional wellbeing.
