Apply NowTime Appointments are recruiting on behalf of a trusted Accountancy Firm based in Colchester, who are currently recruiting for an experienced Bookkeeper. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Managing a portfolio of small business clients for all bookkeeping and accounting services
* Reviewing and preparing accounts to trial balance
* Prepayments and accruals
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Bank reconciliation, purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
* Management accounts preparation
* Fixed asset register maintenance
* Dealing with and resolving queries
* Bookkeeping quality control
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience working in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within an accountancy practice
* Experience managing a portfolio of clients and working across multiple businesses
* Strong technical bookkeeping knowledge, with the ability to work confidently through to trial balance
* Practical experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Experience preparing management accounts
* Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to financial data
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients
* The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment
* Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, with experience using accounting/bookkeeping software
* A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
* A commitment to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and high professional standards
* An AAT qualification or equivalent accounting/bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.
