Salary: £100–£105 per day
Class Mate is recruiting a full-time Year 2 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support with a strong focus on phonics at a welcoming and supportive primary school, starting immediately.
The Role
• Provide 1:1 support for pupils requiring additional support in Year 2
• Deliver targeted small group interventions, particularly in phonics
• Support pupils in preparation for KS1 phonics screening and assessments
• Work closely with the class teacher to adapt and deliver learning activities
• Use phonics schemes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc to support progress
• Help create a structured, engaging and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience supporting pupils in KS1, ideally Year 2
• Strong knowledge of phonics schemes (e.g. Little Wandle, Read Write Inc)
• Confident delivering both 1:1 and small group interventions
• Patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with pupils
• Passionate about supporting early literacy development
Requirements
• Previous experience working within a UK primary school
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Ability to provide two professional references
• Relevant TA qualification desirable but not essential
