About the Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy specialising in high voltage infrastructure, transmission networks, grid expansion and renewable energy projects is looking for an experienced Project Manager - Secondary Engineering to join their growing team in Germany.
The company supports major infrastructure projects across the energy sector, working closely with TSOs, utilities and EPC contractors on complex HV and EHV substation developments, refurbishment projects and grid modernisation schemes.
This role is suited to an experienced Secondary Engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career by combining technical expertise with project leadership, stakeholder management and engineering coordination.
The position offers the opportunity to progress into a future Team Leader role as the business continues to grow.
The Role
As Project Manager - Secondary Engineering, you will be responsible for leading secondary engineering packages from initial concept through to final project completion.
You will act as the key interface between clients, suppliers, internal engineering teams and project stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered successfully, safely and to the required technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead secondary engineering projects for (Apply online only)kV substations and switchyards
Coordinate Protection, Control and SCADA engineering activities
Develop technical concepts for new build, refurbishment and extension projects
Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and engineering deliverables
Prepare and review technical specifications, engineering documentation and project packages
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle
Liaise with TSOs, utilities, suppliers and EPC contractors
Support installation, commissioning and final project handover
Mentor junior engineers and support the development of the wider engineering team
About You
You will have a strong background in secondary engineering for HV/EHV substations with experience delivering complex engineering projects and coordinating technical teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong experience in HV/EHV substation secondary engineering
Experience with Protection & Control systems
Knowledge of station control and SCADA systems
Background in protection relay engineering
Experience with Engineering Base and/or EPLAN
Previous experience managing engineering projects, teams and stakeholders
Understanding of German TSO and grid operator standards
Fluent German language skills (B2 level or above)
