Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £18-19 P/H – DAYSHIFT £21-23 P/H AFTERNOON SHIFT

About the Role

Are you an experienced Quality Inspector with a keen eye for detail and a background in high-precision manufacturing? We are a leading advanced materials manufacturer specializing in technical and precision components.

We are seeking a meticulous Quality Inspector to join our team in Birmingham. You will play a critical role in ensuring our high-performance components meet strict dimensional tolerances, aesthetic standards, and precise customer specifications before they leave our facility.

Key Responsibilities

* No Programming of CMM’s but able to use one.

* Dimensional Inspection: Perform first-off, in-process, and final dimensional inspections of complex, high-tolerance components using CMM, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

* Visual & Material Quality: Inspect technical ceramic parts for surface defects, micro-cracks, contamination, and structural integrity.

* Documentation & Traceability: Maintain accurate quality records, complete inspection reports, and generate Certificates of Conformity (CoC).

* Non-Conformance Management: Identify, log, and isolate non-conforming products (NCRs), working alongside production and engineering teams to assist with root-cause analysis (CAPA).

* Calibration Support: Assist in maintaining and managing the calibration schedule for shop-floor measuring equipment and tools.

* Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield rates and quality control processes.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

* Experience: Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a high-precision engineering or manufacturing environment (ceramics, aerospace, medical devices, or precision machining preferred).

* Technical Drawing Literacy: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, standard geometric tolerances, and GD&T specifications.

* Metrology Equipment: Hands-on experience with standard measuring instruments (micrometers, height gauges) and CMM/optical measurement systems.

* Attention to Detail: Excellent visual acuity and high precision mindset given the technical nature of ceramic materials.

* Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for writing reports and working across departments.
