Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
Location: Wimbledon, SW19 8UG
Salary: £40–50k + performance bonus (negotiable)
About Us:
We are a growing refurbishment and building business delivering high-quality residential projects in SW London & Surrey. Our turnover is projected to exceed £1M in 2026, with a significant portion of work secured from a related property development company we own. We operate with a small core team and a network of trusted subcontractors.
The Role:
We are looking for a commercially sharp, adaptable Quantity Surveyor / Estimator who can take ownership of project costs, margin protection, cash flow management, and reporting. This is not a corporate QS role — you’ll work directly with the director and project/operations manager in a small, fast-moving business. You will also have the chance to design and implement systems that make our business scalable and profitable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate estimates and cost plans for small developments, shell & core projects and residential refurbishments and control project costs and monitor margins from tender through to final account
* Track committed costs, variations, and cash flow
* Produce clear management reports on project profitability and risk
* Manage subcontractor commercial relationships, including valuations and final accounts
* Build and maintain a simple, scalable estimating and reporting system
* Advise on commercial decisions and pricing strategy
Who You Are:
* Experienced QS / Estimator, ideally with 4–10 years in small or medium builders
* Comfortable working with subcontractor-led delivery models
* Commercially minded: understands margin, cash flow, and risk management
* Adaptable, hands-on, and happy to take responsibility across multiple areas
* Able to challenge directors and operations constructively
What We Offer:
* A key, highly visible role in a fast-growing company
* Opportunity to influence systems, strategy, and profitability
* Exposure to both “guaranteed pipeline” work and external residential projects
* Performance bonus tied to margin and cash flow results after year 1
Warning: This is not a corporate, measurement-only role. If you expect to “just measure” and let others worry about money, this isn’t for you
