SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Pay: £92.59 - £110.24 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Full Academic Year

A well-established Secondary SEN School in Oldham is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of additional learning needs throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally. The school offers a supportive environment where staff work collaboratively to ensure every student receives the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
Encourage student participation, confidence and independence
Help manage classroom behaviour through positive reinforcement strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their development and wellbeing
Contribute to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will:

Have experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting
Demonstrate patience, resilience and a proactive attitude
Be confident working with students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
Be committed to helping students achieve their individual goals
Hold relevant qualifications or transferable experience (desirable but not essential)
