SEND Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Trained)
Location: Oldham
Pay Rate: £95–£110 per day DOE
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you a skilled SEND Teaching Assistant with Team Teach training looking for a rewarding role in a specialist school environment?

Cover People are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 11–19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex communication needs. This specialist setting provides highly personalised learning pathways designed to help every student develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.

The Role:

Provide classroom, small-group and 1:1 support for students with SEND.
Use Team Teach strategies to support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
Assist in delivering tailored learning activities linked to EHCP targets.
Support communication, social interaction and independence skills.
Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to support student progress.

The Ideal Candidate:

Current Team Teach training is essential.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
Knowledge of Autism, learning difficulties or complex needs is desirable.
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
