Senior Mechanical Engineer

Hexwired Recruitment are working with a leading secure communications technology organisation in the UAE, part of a major advanced technology group, who are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering team.
This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced secure communication products used across government, defence, and high-security applications, including ultra-secure mobile devices, networks, and satellite communication systems.
You will take a technical lead role on complex mechanical design projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including electronics, software, and systems engineering to deliver robust, high-reliability hardware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, drawings, rendering)
* Conduct thermal, structural, and stress analysis to validate designs under harsh environmental conditions
* Ensure compliance with relevant defence and aerospace standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810, DO-160 or equivalent)
* Work with external suppliers and vendors to manage prototyping, manufacturing, and delivery of components
* Support product testing and validation including vibration, thermal cycling, and environmental testing
* Ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency
* Maintain detailed technical documentation and design records
* Collaborate within cross-functional engineering teams across the product lifecycle
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
* 8+ years’ experience in mechanical product design or development
* Strong SolidWorks 2D/3D design experience
* Experience with thermal and structural simulation tools (e.g. FlowTherm or equivalent)
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
* Experience working in high-reliability, defence, aerospace, or regulated industries
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
* Experience in SATCOM, RF, aerospace, or defence sectors
* Exposure to low-volume prototype and production environments
* Experience working with international suppliers and manufacturing transfer
