Children’s Social Worker – Locum

Location: Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire
Job Type: Full-Time | Locum

Pay Rate: £26.63 per hour

Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join its Children’s Services team on a full-time locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families to achieve positive, long-term outcomes.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive and child-centred environment, managing complex cases while working collaboratively with families, colleagues, and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of children subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans.

* Complete high-quality assessments, care plans, and interventions in line with statutory guidance and legislation.

* Build strong and effective relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.

* Contribute to court proceedings, including preparing statements and attending hearings where required.

* Work within a strengths-based and child-focused practice framework.

* Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed case recordings and reports.

* Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of children remains central to all decision-making.

Requirements

* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

* Previous experience within Children’s Services.

* Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks.

* Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
