Job Overview

We are currently working with a school who are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

As a Special Needs Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a variety of needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and social-emotional/behavioural challenges. You’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

If you are an experienced classroom assistant or more than 1 year experience supporting in SEN children, we have a range of placements to suit you.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group classroom support to children with SEN.

*

Assist teachers with adapting lessons and resources to meet individual learning needs.

*

Support pupils with behaviour management, daily routines, and transitions.

*

Encourage independence, confidence, and social skills through positive reinforcement.

*

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track and support pupil progress.

*

Maintain accurate records and feedback on pupil development.

Candidate Requirements

*

Previous experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable but not essential).

*

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach with a passion for inclusive education.

*

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

*

Flexibility to work across different schools and settings.

*

Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and training (DBS required – we can support with applications).
