An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Manager to lead the Kinship & Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Support and Private Fostering team within Devon Council. This is a key leadership role where you will drive high-quality service delivery and make a lasting difference to children, young people, and families.

About the Role
As Team Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of the SGO Support and Private Fostering teams, ensuring statutory duties are met and that carers and families receive effective, high-quality support. You will lead a team of social workers and family practitioners, promoting best practice and continuous development.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the SGO Support and Private Fostering teams

* Oversee assessments, support plans, and service delivery

* Ensure high-quality support for kinship carers and fostering arrangements

* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners and social work teams

* Manage budgets and resources effectively

* Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development to staff

About You
You will be a confident and motivated leader with strong experience in children’s services, particularly within kinship care, fostering, or special guardianship. You will champion high standards of practice, reflective learning, and a collaborative team culture.

Essential Requirements

* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

* Significant experience in children’s services

* Proven leadership and management experience

* Strong knowledge of kinship care, SGO, and private fostering legislation

* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

* Ability to build strong relationships with families and professionals

* Full UK driving licence and access to a car
