Test & Validation Engineering Lead ITALY
This role is specific to the Construction Machinery market and requires experience in that industry.
Location: Imola / Bologna area, Italy (relocation support available)
Salary: Up to €65,000 + (Including 14-month holiday payment) – Note: salary is negotiable
A well-established global manufacturer of construction machinery / vehicles is strengthening its European engineering capability and is looking to appoint a Test & Validation Lead to support product development for the European market.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, responsible for defining and delivering test and validation strategies at full machine / vehicle level. You will lead a small team (currently 2, expected to grow), while remaining closely involved in day-to-day testing and engineering activities.
The role could suit a Senior or Principal Test / Validation Engineer looking to step into a leadership / management path.
Responsibilities - Test & Validation Engineering Lead
* Define and implement test and validation strategies for construction machinery / vehicles across the full product lifecycle
* Develop structured validation plans (e.g. DVP&R) aligned to European construction vehicle market requirements
* Lead and support physical testing activities (field and controlled environments) at full machine / vehicle level
* Analyse test data, identify issues, and provide clear technical recommendations
* Ensure compliance with relevant European standards and regulatory requirements (knowledge of these standards is essential)
* Manage and develop a small team of engineers, with scope to scale capability over time
* Work closely with international engineering teams to influence product design and validation approaches
* Drive improvements in test processes, methods, and overall validation capability
Requirements
* Proven experience in test and validation of construction machinery (yellow goods) at vehicle level
* Strong background in developing test processes, methodologies, and validation strategies
* Experience working with construction machinery products for the European market, including relevant standards and compliance requirements
* Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
* Experience leading or mentoring engineers, or clear motivation to move into a leadership role
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
* Fluent English (essential)
